History of Organization
WODSTA’s philosophy and activities are focused on enhancing the status and position of women. Emphasis is focused on grass root women, girls and marginalized communities within the Arusha and Manyara Regions.
WODSTA is a women’s membership organization guided by the principals of justice, voluntarism, and transparency. WODSTA aims at enabling a women’s self-discovery in order to take her rightful place in society and play her role in accordance with her full potential.

General Description : WODSTA is a women’s membership Non-Governmental Organization based in Arusha , Tanzania . Its members are drawn from different fields and guided under the leadership of an elected Chairperson and Secretary General. The interest of WODSTA’s members include education, agriculture, community and gender development providing a large knowledge base in dealing with the complexities of women’s development issues. WODSTA emphasizing improving the status and position of women, focusing on grass root women, the girl child and marginalized communities within the Arusha and Manyara Regions.
Communities of operation: Arusha and Manyara Regions (30 villages)
Number of Community Members we work with : Over 1000
Number of employees (both part & full time staff) : Nine: 4 Programme Officers, 1 Programme Manager, 1 Secretary, 1 Accountant, 1 driver, and 1 watchman
Number of Volunteers : The majority of WODSTA’s programme activities are run on a volunteer basis. Currently there is 1 full time and 20 part time volunteers working with WODSTA.

Organizational Objectives
- To raise awareness about women’s role in equitable and sustainable development initiatives, on an international, national, regional and grassroots level.
- To promote sustainable agricultural knowledge and skills training among individual women and groups.
- To increase women’s economic empowerment .
- To support women’s environmental and other income-generation activities which increase women’s economic empowerment.
- To promote gender-sensitive planning at all levels of society. To enable women to become aware of their basic legal rights.
